Q. Can I pay a month at a time?
Answer: Yes.
Q. When is tuition due?
Answer: Every Monday. Tuition paid after Monday should include a $20 late payment fee.
Q. What time can I bring my child to the center?
Answer: We open at 6:30am. All children must arrive by 10:00am. If you cannot arrive by 10:00am, please come after nap. Check your child’s schedule for nap times.
Q. May I visit my child at the center?
Answer: Parents are welcome to visit their child. There are some stipulations, however. If your child becomes upset when you leave in the mornings, it may not be a good idea to come for a visit during the day and risk him/her becoming upset again. Sometimes a parent’s presence in the classroom is a disturbance to the learning activities of the children. If you would like to come for lunch, please let the teachers know in advance. We place our food order with the kitchen by 8:30am, so let us know by then. If you want to come during morning or afternoon center time, or other learning times, please make an appointment with the teacher, so she can make time in the day’s schedule for your visit.
Q. What form of discipline is used at BELC?
Answer: Positive reinforcement, which means praise for good behavior. Some negative or inappropriate behavior can be ignored. If the negative behavior persists, then the child will be redirected to play with another toy or in another part of the classroom, with the last step being 'time out'. For more information, please see page eight of the parent handbook.
Q. What if my child does not like what is served for lunch?
Answer: Meals and snack are considered part of the curriculum. Teachers eat with the children, modeling appropriate table manners and demonstrating the trying of all foods served. We encourage the children to taste everything on their plate. Usually, children will eat better at school than at home, because they see their friends eating and they are hungry from an active morning of learning and play.
Q. If my child is sick, can he/she still come to the center?
Answer: There cannot be compromise of the standards when a child is sick. The rules are clear. Children must be excluded from group care for the following symptoms:
- Temperature over 100 degrees.
- Intestinal disturbance, accompanied by diarrhea or vomiting.
- Any undiagnosed rash
- Sore or discharging eyes, ears, or profuse nasal discharge.
Q. What if someone other than mom or dad will be picking up my child?
Answer: Leave us an FYI form (found at the front desk) with the name of the person picking your child up, and make sure to date and sign the form and leave it at the front desk. We will keep a copy at the front desk and in the classroom. Tell your family/friends they must bring in a photo ID to present when they arrive.
